Birthday Balloon Surprises and C.H.A.N.G.E.S. Coming!

Written by Heather Haupt 5 Comments

BirthdayBalloons-a

Last month my niece turned FIVE!  To celebrate her birthday, we set to work writing special birthday notes and pictures that we tucked inside tiny balloons.  In honor of her 5 years, we also tucked in 5 one dollar bills.  I had seen a similar idea on pinterest and decided that this would be the perfect way to celebrate her birthday.  The boys were thrilled to put the gift together, popping balloons to retrieve treasures on the other end eagerly carried out.  As a bonus, mailing that big box didn’t break the bank.

Knowing how fixated my kids are when they earn or receive dollar bills, I figured that would be the highlight.  When I asked my sister if the money gift was a hit, she told me that my precious niece actually valued the copious amount of rolled up notes and pictures.  She carried them around as ‘treasure’ for several days.  I just love the hearts of young children…

Oh the joy of planning little surprises.

Speaking of surprises, I’m excited to let you know that big C.H.A.N.G.E.S. are coming to the blog!  As in BIG.  I won’t be here in a few weeks.  I’m moving! {to a new blog address}  Similar heart and content, but with a renewed focus and a new home! I’m so excited for the direction the Lord is leading with this and can’t wait to bring you all with me for the big moving party!  So be sure to check in, or better yet subscribe via email so you won’t miss a thing!

Do you think these could be sent internationally? My husband is in Istanbul and his 50th birthday is coming..this is a perfect idea for him.

I don’t see why it couldn’t. It made it cross-country in inclement weather, so I could imagine it would handle just about anything…

I am planning to use this idea for my long distance niece… any tips on who to ship through? Or how to ensure that the balloons don’t deflate or pop? Going halfway across the country in August is my worry! THANKS!

Kate, We just shipped them USPS and it went cross country. Of course this was in January, so no worries here in Arizona, but it was super cold and snowy where they shipped and everything arrived intact. If you want to reduce friction, maybe lining the box with bubble wrap might offset that chance. I hope your niece loves it as much as mine did!

How FUN to send all those balloons and notes and dollar bills to your niece! What a creative gift…sounds like it thrilled her little heart!! Yes, the hearts of children really are precious! 🙂

Okay…watching out for those changes…you sound excited! I will patiently wait until you reveal what you’ve been up to. 🙂

    Blessings to you!

Instagram post 2233099506281729942_1420023259 You can have a usually tidy home or regularly imaginative children, but seldom do the two simultaneously go hand in hand. She's playing house, raising her children, and informed me she's in the middle of moving... 😯 We can tidy up later... or not... as is evidenced by the hand made basketball hoop still hanging to the side which we ended up incorporating into our space for the time being. Instagram post 2232104592257556739_1420023259 The teen years are such an amazing season of coming into your own, thinking deeply about the world around you as you transition into adulthood. My teens have stepped up to new challenges this year with their education that have really stretched them (and me). Mondayy, my oldest participated in his first debate. This guy has delved deep into Scripture and borrowed books to understand both sides and prep for his debate. All four did a fabulous job thinking these issues through and participating with their assigned position and I love the conversations it has sparked between the four of them as well as in our own home! .
