A much needed break

Written by Heather Haupt 7 Comments

Thankfully, we were able to get away this last weekend.  Rich and I both spoke for a homeschool kick-off meeting up north.  I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful it’s been the last couple of weeks to get to speak twice alongside my hubby.  I don’t think he expected to like it as much as he did!  Afterwards we traipsed up further north to spend some time with my aunt and uncle as well as make a trip to Lowell Observatory {where the planet PLUTO was discovered}.  Greta fell asleep on my back and that cuddle time was heavenly.

LOVE the photos of your precious family my friend! Enjoy your time away with your hubby…and, don’t worry about the children…I am sure they will be well cared for! You asked if we ever go away just the two of us…we have…over the last 18 years for a total of about five or six nights spread out a night here or there. Crazy, isn’t it? A night or two has always been *just right* for me. One day they will be all grown and gone and then we will be able to do longer trips…perhaps. 🙂

    Blessings to you!

My kids are super-excited to go spend a week with their grandparents. Aside from the almost 2 year old, I don’t think the bigger boys will miss us much. Greta and I are quite attached… Rich and I are looking forward to the time together and getting better equipped to help serve other families.

Loved your fine collage of photos– besides showing your family involved in life, you created a pleasing, texture-filled, colorful work of art by cropping and arranging your photos in a way that stands on its own as a second statement!

I would love to buy your book and buy many copies to give away but I’ve never done ebooks myself nor would I know how to give e-copies to other! Please tell me a solution for hard core hard copy people like me!

Thanks for the encouragement on the photos. It was fun to put together and reminisce about our experiences up there!

The ebook comes in pdf format and can be read on a computer, kindle, nook, ipad or any other kind of device. Apparently, it can also be read on a smart phone too. I don’t have any experience with that though. The entire book is 50 pages long and you could also print it off and spiral bind it as well… You would simply order extra copies so you would have the “right” to email those copies to the person you would want to gift the book too.

I am hoping to start work on getting things figured out for a hard-copy of the book as well. I’m much more of a hard-copy kind of gal too although I’m starting to come around on the ebooks now that we have a kindle.

Ours too! Ironically, the only other time that we got away as a couple was when our oldest was 20 months old and we spent two nights up in Sedona. Aside from hiking, we just loved strolling through here. It was fun to take the kids.

Instagram post 2233099506281729942_1420023259 You can have a usually tidy home or regularly imaginative children, but seldom do the two simultaneously go hand in hand. She's playing house, raising her children, and informed me she's in the middle of moving... 😯 We can tidy up later... or not... as is evidenced by the hand made basketball hoop still hanging to the side which we ended up incorporating into our space for the time being. Instagram post 2232104592257556739_1420023259 The teen years are such an amazing season of coming into your own, thinking deeply about the world around you as you transition into adulthood. My teens have stepped up to new challenges this year with their education that have really stretched them (and me). Mondayy, my oldest participated in his first debate. This guy has delved deep into Scripture and borrowed books to understand both sides and prep for his debate. All four did a fabulous job thinking these issues through and participating with their assigned position and I love the conversations it has sparked between the four of them as well as in our own home! .

👉👉 Learning to research, learning to reason, and learning to listen to another's arguments are such invaluable skills that will stick with them for the rest of their lives! 👈👈 We are thankful for Worldviews of the Western World curriculum and the Worldview Classes in our area that have provided so much for our homeschool year.
