Intentional Parenting

In this distracted day and age, it is easy to put parenting on auto-pilot. But we can't afford to do that. We need to be actively engaged in preparing this generation by protecting the innocence of childhood while also preparing them to one day head out on their own.

Here are some of my most popular articles on parenting:

How to hide a mullet.

Written by Heather Haupt 1 Comment

Word on the street is that adorable {tiny} pigtails are the best way to hide a baby mullet.  Being new to all things girly, I took that piece of advice to heart and have been anxiously awaiting the moment when there was just enough hair to tuck into little piggies! I’m smitten.  Now I just […]

Finding Beauty in the Chaos

Written by Heather Haupt 4 Comments

Some days the messiness of life starts to overwhelm me…  But then sometimes, God gives me eyes to see the beauty, the creation, the memories that are made in the midst of the mess, in the midst of the clutter. I’m thankful for the ability to recognize the door of opportunity.  I’m thankful for fresh […]

One Word: FOCUS

Written by Heather Haupt 4 Comments

Have you seen people talking about their year in terms of ‘one-word?’  {My new blog-friend, Erica over at Spoonful of Imagination wrote about hers recently…} It is funny because I’ve found myself gravitating towards that for the last couple of weeks.  In fact, I had planned out a whole series that I wanted to share.  But […]

Practice Doesn’t Always Make Perfect…

Written by Heather Haupt 3 Comments

{photo courtesy of my sister, Bethany} Remember when I mentioned that service and generosity aren’t strengths of mine?  I’m finding that this month is just as much a lesson for me as it is for the kiddos.  Do I sound like a broken record?  Because I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned that before as we’ve learned […]

Boy-Style Giving ~ a la Legolas vs. Gimli

Written by Heather Haupt 2 Comments

The boys are loving to rip open their ‘mission’ for the day each morning as we discover new ways to give, serve and love those around us this month. Today’s mission was to SMILE… At everyone! We discussed how a simple hello and a big smile can be such a precious gift to someone. For […]

Our Advent Countdown: Learning How to Give, Serve, Love

Written by Heather Haupt 4 Comments

Yesterday was the start of our advent celebrations… We delved into our Truth in the Tinsel advent devotional. As we talked about how Jesus was the LIGHT who came and shone into a world drowning in darkness, we also read (Matt 5:14-16) and sang about how when God has rescued us, cleaned our hearts, he has […]

Instagram post 2246745984061431431_1420023259 Might I pass on some advice? Be careful what you multi-task...

In a fit of mental abstraction, I started a new book AND a grilled cheese at the same time. Shakespeare analysis and cooking do not go hand in hand. 😖😜 #brightestheavenofinvention #peterleithart #shakespeare

The security at the airport said that was the most lemons they had ever seen someone bring thru on a carry on. So excited for homemade strawberry, blueberry, and vanilla lemonade, my husband's specialties!

After several days of gray cold, sunshine beckoned us outside. Actually, they've been working on clearing an area for this fort all week even in the cold. Today is finally warm and 🌞 enough for me to traverse the mesquite forest to join them... #NatureTherapy #everychildoutdoors #momtoo
Instagram post 2233099506281729942_1420023259 You can have a usually tidy home or regularly imaginative children, but seldom do the two simultaneously go hand in hand. She's playing house, raising her children, and informed me she's in the middle of moving... 😯 We can tidy up later... or not... as is evidenced by the hand made basketball hoop still hanging to the side which we ended up incorporating into our space for the time being. But there is peace when we recognize the purpose in their play. #powerofplay #wildandfreechildren #encouragingimagination
Instagram post 2232104592257556739_1420023259 The teen years are such an amazing season of coming into your own, thinking deeply about the world around you as you transition into adulthood. My teens have stepped up to new challenges this year with their education that have really stretched them (and me). Mondayy, my oldest participated in his first debate. This guy has delved deep into Scripture and borrowed books to understand both sides and prep for his debate. All four did a fabulous job thinking these issues through and participating with their assigned position and I love the conversations it has sparked between the four of them as well as in our own home! .

👉👉 Learning to research, learning to reason, and learning to listen to another's arguments are such invaluable skills that will stick with them for the rest of their lives! 👈👈 We are thankful for Worldviews of the Western World curriculum and the Worldview Classes in our area that have provided so much for our homeschool year.
