Monsoon season is upon us. It is a bittersweet time for those living in the desert. While the electric lightning displays and torrential rains are exciting, the accompanying humidity makes life difficult. The kids however don’t seemed phased by it at all!
We use this season to get outside and play!
Or get that necessary, but long put off weeding done…
I ended up filling our wheelbarrow twice with the tumbleweeds that had grown up in our side yard. Softened dirt makes this work so much easier. And yes, it was LONG overdue.

I love how it ties in the plants and animals of this region. The boys are excited about puddle jumping, neighborhood nature walks, flood inspections and lightning shows!

Jenny, isn’t it funny how perspectives change depending on circumstances and situations. 🙂 Your kids are so blessed to get to experience both the hot southwest and the cold north!
Jamie, I hear you on just enjoying it being here. Aside from one brief thunderstorm last week, we haven’t had rain since April.

I’m just glad for rain this year, after a few years of major drought! Don’t think I’ve participated in much puddle-jumping lately, though. 🙂

Haha, I believe I was just complaining about the rain! Now I feel like a heel 🙂 But seriously… it’s been raining here way too long and it’s freezing out to boot. We are about to brave it, however, and head to the beach to look for sea stars. Have fun! I miss those Arizona storms. So beautiful.
