Books to Build a Girl’s Faith

Written by Heather Haupt 9 Comments

Narratives are powerful.  They have a way of tugging at your heart, allowing for deep truth to penetrate hearts.  A good story can foster a yearning for something more.  As a believer, I love to read things that inspire me and remind me of the beauty and depth to be found in a relationship with […]

A Book Update: Faith and Brain Building

Written by Heather Haupt 10 Comments

Today is an update of sorts…  My mind is still full from our weekend at the AFHE Convention where I spoke, Rich and I worked and were also inspired along with over 5,000 other homeschool parents!  There is a special energy there that leaves one reinvigorated!  I’m ready to tackle lesson planning for the year […]

Not a Stick…

Written by Heather Haupt 3 Comments

We love finding a fun book that inspires outdoor explorations.  This last week we read, Not a Stick.  The boys were laughing and enthralled with guessing what this cute character was making his stick into next using the magic of the imagination.  When we were done, the boys were sad to see that it was […]

More Inspiration for this Adventure of Faith

Written by Heather Haupt 2 Comments

Completely fearless, absurdly happy and in constant trouble.  Sounds like a recipe for adventure to me, doesn’t it?  It always does in the theoretical sense although when you are walking through a season of ‘trouble’ it certainly may not feel like that…  Nevertheless, it is this kind of adventure that I want my boys to […]

10 Adventure Books to Inspire a Boys’ Faith

Written by Heather Haupt 40 Comments

There is something magnetic about boys and adventure.  They simply go together.  At the whisper of adventure I find my boys stand more erect, alert.  It’s almost as if the adrenaline has started to pump before anything has actually started and they are hooked.  Well, when it comes to talking to my boys about walking […]

Screen-Free Bliss! See you in a week…

Written by Heather Haupt 6 Comments

Well, after all of my big talk about limiting screen-time, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to go screen-free myself.  I’m not used to the every-day blogging like I did for this last series and my poor brain is feeling pretty fried.  Ironic, isn’t it?   So as I mentioned 2 weeks ago, next […]

In a fit of mental abstraction, I started a new book AND a grilled cheese at the same time. Shakespeare analysis and cooking do not go hand in hand. 😖😜 #brightestheavenofinvention #peterleithart #shakespeare

The security at the airport said that was the most lemons they had ever seen someone bring thru on a carry on. So excited for homemade strawberry, blueberry, and vanilla lemonade, my husband's specialties!

After several days of gray cold, sunshine beckoned us outside. Actually, they've been working on clearing an area for this fort all week even in the cold. Today is finally warm and 🌞 enough for me to traverse the mesquite forest to join them... #NatureTherapy #everychildoutdoors #momtoo
Instagram post 2233099506281729942_1420023259 You can have a usually tidy home or regularly imaginative children, but seldom do the two simultaneously go hand in hand. She's playing house, raising her children, and informed me she's in the middle of moving... 😯 We can tidy up later... or not... as is evidenced by the hand made basketball hoop still hanging to the side which we ended up incorporating into our space for the time being. But there is peace when we recognize the purpose in their play. #powerofplay #wildandfreechildren #encouragingimagination
Instagram post 2232104592257556739_1420023259 The teen years are such an amazing season of coming into your own, thinking deeply about the world around you as you transition into adulthood. My teens have stepped up to new challenges this year with their education that have really stretched them (and me). Mondayy, my oldest participated in his first debate. This guy has delved deep into Scripture and borrowed books to understand both sides and prep for his debate. All four did a fabulous job thinking these issues through and participating with their assigned position and I love the conversations it has sparked between the four of them as well as in our own home! .

👉👉 Learning to research, learning to reason, and learning to listen to another's arguments are such invaluable skills that will stick with them for the rest of their lives! 👈👈 We are thankful for Worldviews of the Western World curriculum and the Worldview Classes in our area that have provided so much for our homeschool year.
